Susan Harmon is an Artist and Professor of Art.
Her art is informed by literature about women who have suffered trauma and their hope to survive.
She is an Abstract Expressionist painter who works large and exhibits her work in universities and art galleries both nationally and internationally.Her website is http://www.susanharmon.org
She holds a BFA degree from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA degree from Georgia Southern University. In addition she has completed 25 hours of graduate level art education courses at Texas Tech University and completed one year of PhD Art Research at Monash University,Melbourne, Australia.
She has been awarded several fellowships to continue her research in Costa Rica ,Texas and India. She was commmissioned to create a 60' mural for the downtown area of the city of san Marcos,Texas. Currently five of her art works are being used to inform costumes and set designs for a play informed by THE ME TOO movement at University of Central Oklahoma acmpus,April 2018.
2019, she is exhbiting her large painted tapestries at Louisianna Stae University and at at The Mesquite Art Center near Dalls.
She has exhibted her work internationally at The Coridora Art Gallery in Lisbon,Portugal,Cologne,Germany juried art exhibit which she won an award , Seule, Korea and in Budapest.She has participated in numerous juries exhibitions throughout the country and most notably;Womanart gallery in Chicago,Bradley University,Angelo state University,Sul Ross University and Colorado Air Force Academy.
Her newest body of work,Street People is informed by her oldest son's documentary of Austin's homeless.
